Progress Report

Current Status
It’s been forever since we’ve given some sort of update as to where we are progress-wise, so here you go.

= Programming:
Still going on, working out issues and furthering the openfaito engine. Latty's the main contributor to this at the moment, Danneh and arkay are planning to/helping out a bit. The openfaito engine won't be 'ready' before the game is out, as we find out what we need to code into the engine by working out the game, which is where beta releases and such come into play.

= Art:
Cutscenes are slowly being put together, at a steady pace thanks to Gebyy’s efforts. Similarly, on sprite duty we have the second coming of Dudebro opening the road to the continued creation of in-game characters. Likewise, Tsukina has offered his services in drawing our sprite sets, and Khwan continues to hang around as well. Meanwhile, Markavian has made some glorious in-game backgrounds for us. Unfortunately, we’re at a bit of a snag in the art department, so getting more artists would mean more getting done.

= Music:
Pretty much done, our lovable derps Kurai and Feath have delivered heaps of tracks. Doc and Danneh have made contributions as well. However, anybody wishing to submit songs is welcome, all sorts of songs are allowed, so long as they’re K-On related. So yes, your dubstep mashup featuring country-rock covers of Megadeth songs would be one potential idea. But no, please don't actually send us that.

= Story:
The plot and direction has long since been decided, with 7/8 levels done. Our script is mostly done, with 5/8 of the lines and descriptions (stage directions, in essence) done. Quaddle, Shaneoyo, and Arkay add to it, basing it off of Doc12345’s original outline. Level Design and maps are also being planned out, the actual in-game enemy placements and navigation is being decided.

= In other news:
Mugenjohncel resigned a while ago, being busy with some other stuff. Mugifag has made some sample sprites and is planning to help with programming. Our old artist Enen showed up for a while to contribute some sprites and other graphics, he was pretty chill.

No, we aren’t dead, we’re still at it as usual. And yes, we still take any help we can get. Faito!

Sprites, pt 1

Good morrow, fine gentlemen of /a/ and beyond.

Today, let's look at how I created Yui's sprites- specifically, Yui's idle animation.

Back when the project started, one of the first team members (Khwan, who is still working with us) created a rough GIF of Ritsu. I used it as a base for my Yui.

I based the proportions on Khwan's Ritsu GIF. To the right is my own image

In the beginning the Yui sprites were very simple - rough frame by frame red outlines, poorly animated by my demented, thumbless hands. Suffering, they drown in the despair of their own crudeness.
